Fine Dinning & Bar
If you stay with us in Halkidiki, food is part of the holiday, not just something to fit in between swims. At Odysseas Hotel we keep it simple, fresh, and properly Greek, with two easy-going spots that cover your day from breakfast to late cocktails.
Check out availability at Hotel Odysseas – Polyhrono, Halkidiki, Greece:
Both our main restaurant and our snack bar sit right by the pool, with those green, tropical bananas that everyone ends up photographing at least once. You can come as you are, straight from the sunbed, and still feel looked after.
ITHAKI MAIN RESTAURANT
Get ready to live an unforgettable gastronomic experience!
The brand new Ithaca restaurant of Odysseas Hotel, guarantees you an enjoyable and unique experience, overlooking the pool and our green, special bananas, which are the trademark of our hotel. The unique decoration of the restaurant in combination with the comfortable and welcoming space, creates a warm and friendly atmosphere, making Ithaca an ideal place for all hours of the day. The tasting experience starts with Greek breakfast and coffee and continues until the evening with creative touches of Mediterranean cuisine by our talented chef, depending of course on the package you have chosen for your stay.
What you can expect day to day
Ithaki is designed for real holiday rhythms. Slow mornings, a proper breakfast before the beach, and relaxed evenings when you want to stay close to the pool and keep the night easy. If you have stayed in Halkidiki before, you know how quickly the day can disappear once you start chasing beaches and little coves.
We keep the atmosphere warm and friendly, and the service is the sort you get from people who have been doing this for years. If you need something practical, like a high chair or a simple option for a child, just tell us. If you have dietary needs, mention it early and we will do our best, but like anywhere, it depends on the day and the kitchen flow.
Breakfast, coffee, and the Greek way to start
Greek breakfast is not about rushing. It is about sitting down, having your coffee properly, and getting your energy in before the sun gets strong. In Halkidiki, July and August can be properly hot by late morning, so a good start makes the whole day easier.
- Best time to come: earlier if you want it quiet, later if you like a bit of holiday buzz.
- Families usually prefer a steady routine, breakfast first, then pool, then beach.
- Couples often do it the other way, beach early, then a late breakfast and coffee.
Mediterranean evenings with creative touches
In the evening, Ithaki is where you settle in. The pool lights come on, the air cools a little, and you can actually hear the cicadas again. Our chef adds creative touches to Mediterranean cuisine, and it works nicely with the relaxed setting. You do not need to dress up, but you will feel like you have gone somewhere special.
If you are planning day trips, this is the easiest way to balance them. You can head out to explore and still come back to a comfortable dinner without driving again at night. Roads in Halkidiki are straightforward, but after a long beach day, most guests prefer not to do extra miles, especally with kids in the back.
Little local tips from a hotelier
People often ask me what to do around Halkidiki when they want a break from the beach. My honest answer is that the best plan is a mix. A day on the sand, a day exploring, and evenings kept simple.
- If you are flying into Thessaloniki, the main gateway is Thessaloniki Airport. Official info is here: https://www.skg-airport.gr/en.
- For a sense of the wider region, Halkidiki is the three “legs” south of Thessaloniki. A quick overview is on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalkidiki.
- For weather and sea conditions, check an official source before you head out, especially in shoulder season when winds can change quickly: https://www.emy.gr/en.
In summer you will notice the meltemi wind now and then. It can be a blessing in the heat, but it also means some beaches feel choppier than others. If you want calmer water, ask us and we will point you in the right direction for the day, based on wind direction and how busy the roads are.
We are waiting for you in the ideal place to enjoy unique flavours!
CALYPSO SNACK BAR
Experience an exciting tasting experience in the snack bar of Hotel Odysseas!
The Calypso snack bar makes sure that you taste and enjoy delicious snacks made from selected fresh Greek products, which are grown either locally or imported from countries that have a long tradition in them. You will taste many different classic flavours, such as pizza, club sandwiches, yoghurt with honey or fresh refreshing fruit salads. You can also enjoy your coffee or refreshing and tropical cocktails after music. It is not uncommon for our hotel to host evenings and events with live music. Of course, at almost 30 meters, you will find the hotel pool, which is surrounded by tropical, special bananas, creating a magical summer setting!
Poolside bites that actually suit a beach day
Calypso is for the moments you do not want a full sit-down meal. You have been in the sun, you have salt on your skin, and you just want something tasty and easy. Snacks like pizza, club sandwiches, yoghurt with honey, and fruit salads are classics for a reason. They travel well from plate to sunbed, and they keep everyone happy without turning lunch into a whole production.
- Great for families: quick service, familiar choices, and no stress if the little ones are hungry right now.
- Great for couples: coffee and something light, then back to the pool with a book.
- Great for groups: order a few different things, share, and keep the day moving.
Coffee, cocktails, and that summer feeling
In Halkidiki, coffee is a small ritual. Some guests want it strong and quick, others want to sit and watch the pool. Later on, Calypso turns into a proper holiday bar with refreshing and tropical cocktails and music. When we host live music evenings, the whole area changes mood. You can feel it in the air, people relax into the night, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.
And yes, the pool really is that close. About 30 metres, give or take depending on where you are sitting. The bananas around the pool give it a lush look, almost like a little oasis, and it is one of those details guests remember when they go home.
Highlights guests mention again and again
- Fresh ingredients and familiar snacks done properly.
- Easy access from the pool, so you do not lose your spot or your mood.
- Evenings that can be quiet or lively, depending on the night.
- A setting that feels summery even in June and September.
Practical notes for a smoother stay
If you are planning to explore beyond the hotel, Calypso is handy for timing. Grab a coffee before you head out, or a quick bite when you get back, instead of rushing to find somewhere outside at the busiest hours. In peak season, parking in popular areas can be a bit of a pain, and the nicest spots fill up fast.
For guests who like to keep days flexible, here is what usually works well:
- Early swim and breakfast, then a beach run before the roads get busy.
- Back to the pool in late afternoon when the light is softer.
- Snack and cocktails at Calypso, then dinner at Ithaki if your package includes it or if you feel like a fuller meal.
Who Calypso suits best
Calypso fits almost everyone, but it is especially good for:
- Families with children who need food at predictable times, or unpredictable times.
- Couples who prefer light lunches and longer evenings.
- Older travellers who want comfort close by and no extra walking in the heat.
- Guests who are here for the sea and want to spend more time in swimwear than in the car.
